2008 Las Vegas Chips
OFFENSE OBP .351 5th Josh Bard is a real nice catcher. His .364 obp and
his propensity to make contact make him one of the better offensive catchers.
Garciaparra is decent againt right handers and LaRoche against lefties. The
rest of the infield is mediocre. Pat Burrell is the only stand out in the
outfield thanks to 110 walks, which kept his obp over .400
RATING 2
STARTING PITCHING ERA 4.25 15th Two young pitchers have this staff on the upswing.
Rich Hill has the better r/9 at 11.3 and Chien-Ming Wang has a r/9 at 12 but HR/9
is at .4. Carlos Silva has comparable numbers to Wang and Oliver Perez
is decent as well.
RATING 6.5
RELIEF PITCHING Well it comes down to three great relievers Ex Cub Scott Downs,
Justin Speiers and Brian Wolfe combine for 150 great innings of relief. The
rest of the bull pen is pretty mediocre RATING 5.5
CATCHING Along with Bard, Jamie Burke and Mike Redmond will be helping out with
the duties behind the plate. Redmond can Throw and hit .300 and Burke can
hit .300 The only thing keeping this team from having an above average catching rating is Bard's throwing rating.
RATING 5
DEFENSE Fld% .983 15th There are an amazing number of players with average range ratings Winn's and LaRoche's Vg's are the only full time ratings above Vg but there
are a plethora bad fld%. Kouzmanoff will kick the ball around with a .932
Betencourt to is problematic at thirdbase with his .967 fld%. In the outfield
Pat Burrell has 10 errors and a .948 fld%.
RATING 2.5
MANAGMENT Dan Kehoe has been in a tough division no doubt and has not been able
to improve the team much over the three year period. But he has assembled
a nice rotation which is the most difficult thing to do. RATING 6
